he Bead Crafts Workshop is a cultural and artistic experience that connects you with the ancestral creativity of the Tz’utujil people. Guided by a local artisan in Santiago Atitlán, you will learn step by step the traditional techniques of working with tiny glass beads to create your own piece a handmade souvenir full of history and color. More than just a workshop, it is an opportunity to share, learn, and appreciate the art that brings the identity of the lake to life.
We meet at the Porta Hotel del Lago , where we board a private boat to cross Lake Atitlán to Santiago Atitlán.
Welcome to the workshop. The instructor shares the history, symbolism, and cultural value of beadwork in the Tz’utujil communities.
Learn basic techniques for creating your own handmade piece (bracelet, keychain, or other design). We work with thread and beads of various colors and shapes, always with personalized guidance.
Continue at your own pace. Take the opportunity to chat with the artisan, learn more about her life story, and the tradition her work represents.
Finish your creation, share it with the group, take a photo with your instructor, and take your handmade piece home as a souvenir.
You can visit a small craft shop or simply relax by the lake.
We travel back by boat to the hotel dock.
