The City of Antigua Guatemala, whose official name is Santiago de Guatemala was, during the viceregal, known as
Santiago de los Caballeros de Guatemala. It was the capital of the Captaincy General of Guatemala that covered part
of southern Mexico and Central America. After the Santa Marta earthquakes (1773) the capital was moved to Valle de
la Ermita, under the name of Nueva Guatemala de la Asunción.

On this tour we will visit Casa Herrera and Casa Popenoe which preserve the status of the colonial era and where you
will live the experience of the eighteenth century culture and history.
